The Fallas Municipales for Valencia 2006 are decided...

There are 2 main "Fallas" (papier mache models) for most areas of Valencia. Those to be placed in the Town Hall square are almost decided.

On the 14th April 2005 the Fallas committee chose Joan Blanc to build their "grown up" fallas (Fallas Grande).  Joan Blanc also created and built the town hall fallas last year - so this should be a popular choice.

Unfortunately, sources indicate that there was only one other contestant for building the Fallas Grande for the town hall. So this may have been an easy win. Having said that - I can quite imagine why there aren't many takers for this incredibly responsible job. The eyes of Valencia will be upon them!

The Fallas committee has extended the deadline for entries to design and build the children's Fallas (Fallas Infantil) for the town hall. This now closes on the 26th April.

Will we one day see an English team build a fallas?!
